Actually knowing what counts as a Portal Kill is slightly less clear at first, though. Here’s what a Portal Kill in Splitgate is and how to get one.

Portal Kills happen when an enemy falls through one of your portals and dies. Shooting an enemy through a portal doesn’t count, so don’t waste time doing that for this trophy.

It’s not quite as simple as it sounds, though. The drop has to be big enough to kill the enemy from fall damage, and they must be at full health for the kill to count as a Portal Kill — unless 1047 changes that in a future update.

You won’t know if your Portal Kill was successful until the end of a match, either. Trophies earned only pop up after a match ends.

How to Get a Portal Kill in Splitgate

Luck is the main factor in getting a portal kill, since not many people are going to unquestioningly jump in a hole that might kill them.

Your best bet is being sneaky. We’ve had more luck in Highwinds than elsewhere, since there are more — and higher — places to lure enemies with your gates.

You’ll have to place the death gate out of sight, naturally, and then add another one closer to your target. Get them to come after you (without dying yourself), hop through the portal, and hope they keep going through the second one so splat occurs.

It’s not a foolproof method, obviously, but it is the best one we’ve found so far with the existing maps and methods of using portals. You could also invite a buddy into a 1v1 match and ask if they’ll help you get the trophy or achievement, as well.
