How does e-commerce work?
E-commerce is achieving success these days because of its on-time delivery stage and also the quality of products that they deliver to the customers. E-commerce fulfillment comes into action when you want to buy something online. The whole process of ordering the product and getting the product is completely discrete. Here is what happens from packaging to delivering the product.
Firstly, the order flashes to the fulfillment warehouse, where everything is kept properly. So that, it won’t be difficult for the picker to pick the product from there. As the respective person picks the product from the proper shelves, then it is sent to the packing department, where a packer keeps the box ready for packing. When the order is ready, you will receive a series of messages mentioning the packaging of the product. And lastly, once the products are packed, they are all ready for shipping. That’s when the carrier facility comes into the picture. Whenever your order is ready, you will receive a first text message, which lets you know that your order is being prepared or is being shipped to the carrier facility.
The next text you may receive is with details about the carrier facility with order tracking links and an ETA, or estimated Time of Arrival, of the parcel.
What does “carrier facility” mean?
It is a distribution center operated by a courier company from where the products are delivered to the customers. A few of the delivery companies are FEDx, EKART, BLUEDART, USPS, UPS, DELHIVERY, and many more. They do a lot of work day and night. From there, another truck carries the pile of orders to the carrier facility stations. From there, small vehicles, basically supply vans and small motor vehicles, take the orders and deliver them to their respective customers.
If the order you place comes from a full fulfillment center, it will stop by a different carrier facilities center. Every time an order reaches a facility center, it gets packed, restored to another truck, and then sent to the next stop.
What does “your package arrived at the carrier facility” mean?
After the order is placed, you may receive a message saying “your order has arrived at the carrier facility.” Sometimes it might be at the nearest distribution center to you. If so, then you will receive the order on the same day.
But as mentioned above, in some cases, if the order has been delivered from a far place and you receive the message that it has arrived at the carrier facility, it means your package has completed the first step of a long journey.
What does “package left the carrier facility” mean?
An order left the carrier facility means your order is on its way to your doorstep. But sometimes, it means that it has just left the one carrier facility or is still in transit to reach you.
Why do some of your orders take time to be delivered to you?
You might get curious once you order something online and keep tracking the order enthusiastically. While tracking the order, you might come to see that the order is still at the carrier facility. It may be due to a shortage of trucks or drivers with the delivery company. Also, the company might be overwhelmed with the orders, and that is why they have a backlog of delivery trucks and drivers.
During the festive season, the orders are mostly delayed because of the shortage of employees, overloaded orders, and delivery.
Is it possible for me to pick up my order from a carrier facility?
If you live near a carrier facility, you may notice that your order is stuck there. You might have thought of collecting your parcel on your own. But that’s not possible. These distribution centers are located in industrial areas. And they are not allowed to give parcels directly to the public. There are a lot of orders they go through daily, and every order is placed in an organized manner so that it is easy for the delivery agent to come and collect those parcels and deliver them to the common man.
