When you cancel your account, it is permanently erased from Google’s servers. As a result, any information linked to your Google account will be lost. All of your data will be retained on Google’s servers.

Your Gmail address can’t be reused by anybody else in the future. Your Google Account won’t be deleted, only your Gmail service will be disabled.

The Gmail address and Google account are effectively the same things. A fresh address would be a completely new and distinct account. You may create a new account and attempt to move your data from the old one, but not all of it will be transferred.

What happens if you cancel your Gmail service? Your emails and mail settings will be removed. You won’t be able to send or receive emails using your Gmail address. Only your Gmail service will be deleted, not your Google Account.

The main reason is that deleting your data helps with current content (and advertising) curation. People shift, tastes change, and our description history should be updated on a regular basis.
